An interesting precept posed by the BBC Science and Environment News (Aug 23 2010), "Alien hunters 'should look for artificial intelligence'". Based on the comments of Dr Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the SETI Institute, and Dr John Elliott, a Seti research veteran based at Leeds Metropolitan University, that our evolutionary process and technological advance would lead to 'thinking machines'. It seems to me to be a sad reflection of a mechanistic Universe view and a profound misunderstanding of AI (so called 'Artificial Intelligence').
There has never been an oil disaster on the scale of the Deepwater Horizon BP catastrophe.
Millions of gallons of oil spewed into the gulf, and oil disatsers approaching this magnitude take years to cleanse. Yet, suddenly all is ok in the Gulf of Mexico. Despite that much oil and that much toxic Croexit?
The Oil Crisis of the Gulf of Mexico is in fact a Global Energy Sourcing Crisis.
BP seem to hoping that attention on their diabolic perfomance in the Gulf of Mexico will turn elsewhere since their claimed success in capping the deep water horizon gusher. (How much oil per day was that? How much of BP's commercial product and severe toxin Croexit was used?). No, the Deep Water Horizon catastrophe is only one symptom of a profoundly dysfunctional attitude towards energy sourcing that we are all responsible for while we enjoy the use of power for homes and industry.
Corporate profit motive must be addressed in dealing with this crisis. Military control of resources must be addressed to transcend ill-focused intentions. New energy technologies, and the capacity to access UNLIMITED FREE ENERGY are proven at proof of principle. R & D funding is still witheld, leaving inventors, scientists and innovators to find private resourcing for developing the technology of delivery on a large scale. The alternate technology mainstream continue to only focus on partial solutions and those bound to ledger sheets. Our collective behaviour in relation to energy sourcing is fundamentally stupid. Our dependence on combustibles reflects a deep misunderstanding of the element of fire. The level of dysfunction manifest in the oil industry must be addressed as you would address a diseased organ. We collectively must find a mature attitude and approach to bring swift healing to these symptoms and transform energy sourcing and the supply and distrinution of energy that doesn't collapse the infrastructure and amplify destructive chaos. This will not happen while the corporate mind-set calculates its personal advantage. A dead world is no advantage to anyone, no matter how many digits represent wealth. Wealth is quality of life and we all undermine the quality of our individual lives while we do nothing to address this collective folly yet still hold expectation about having power to turn on our computers.
Governments are corporations. Unite as people and unite our sovereign resource to see this happen.
